About Mallus@Göttingen
Mallus@Göttingen is a vibrant, non-profit cultural community that brings together Malayalees living in and around Göttingen, Germany. Our members come from diverse backgrounds across Kerala and are united by a shared passion for preserving our rich traditions, celebrating our cultural heritage, and building lasting friendships within the local community.
Our mission is to create a welcoming and inclusive platform where families, students, professionals, and children can connect, celebrate, and support one another while embracing life in Germany. Through our events, we strive to pass on the values, customs, arts, and traditions of Kerala to the next generation, while fostering cultural exchange and strengthening relationships with the wider Göttingen community.
Since our journey began, we have proudly organized a variety of community events that bring people together throughout the year. Our annual Onam celebrations have become the highlight of our calendar, featuring traditional Pookkalam, Onasadya, cultural performances, music, dance, games, and activities for all ages.
During the Christmas season, we extend the spirit of joy and togetherness through Christmas Carol Home Visits, visiting families with festive songs and celebrations, followed by our memorable Christmas Night gatherings that unite the community in celebration and fellowship.
Our Journey
- 2023 – Successfully organized our first Onam celebration, laying the foundation for a growing Malayalee community in Göttingen.
- 2024 – Expanded our activities with a larger Onam celebration, Christmas Carol Home Visits, and our first Christmas Night, bringing together even more families and volunteers.
- 2025 – Continued to grow with another successful Onam celebration and festive Christmas events, strengthening the bonds within our community.
- 2026 – We are excited to celebrate Onam 2026 on August 29, promising an even bigger and more memorable event with cultural performances, traditional cuisine, family activities, and community celebrations.
